Suddenly Sally awakened. Absently she swiped away the drool dripping down her chin with the back of her hand. She moved her head from side to side and rubbed at the slight crick in her neck. Her whole body felt kind of cramped.  She rotated her shoulders and stretched her arms upwards. Midway up, her arms froze and her body tensed.

Sally sat up with a start. She looked to the left then to the right. She twisted round to check out the area behind her.  She panned the entire room in disbelief.  Then she sat, rigid, staring forward for a few seconds.  "This is not my bedroom!" she concluded.  "No, this is definitely not where I left off last night. How in heavens’ name did I get here?” she asked herself.

Sally stood up and looked around again.  She could not deny the obvious. “Yup,” she confirmed, “I am standing in the middle row of a large movie theater!”  She ran her fingers over the plush velour seat in front of her. The fabric felt real as did the floor beneath her feet. The space was dark except for the typical red signs indicating the emergency exits. The most peculiar part was that, even in the limited lighting she could tell she was the only person in the place.

While she was still reeling with confusion and being pummeled with a gazillion questions, the projector started.  A single beam of light illuminated the darkness sending the opening credits of the movie to the big screen below.

Sally’s body went numb and she slowly sat down again.  She stared at the screen in complete bewilderment as her name flashed by as the story’s main character.  She quickly looked around but it was still only her in the theatre.  “What is going on?” she asked out loud feeling more than a little nervous.

Abruptly her focus was draw back to the screen as her favorite music flooded the interior of the theater. Tears began without warning and the fear of her present circumstances dissolved in the awe of watching her own entry into this world.  Sally watched in disbelief and wonder as she witnessed her own body being pushed into a new realm.  She wept at the sound of her first cry and the initial sensation of another human being’s touch.  She watched her tiny ‘container’ while it was washed and bundled into a blanket and placed in her mother’s arms.

Oddly, she was able to view the events and experience them at the same time.  Sally marveled at the loving intentions of each person toward her very survival. Every person present at her birth held a deep desire for a healthy beginning to her life. She had a weird kind of ‘knowing’ that everyone involved knew her and had chosen their part to play long before her arrival.  Sally felt a love well up inside her. A love she thought had evaded her, her whole life. “I was anticipated. People were waiting for me. I was loved into existence. I was intended.” Sally’s heart leaped for joy and assumed a steady beat as these words whispered within her.

“Yes,” she heard a quiet gentle voice beside her. “Yes, Sally, you were formed in love before you were even nestled in your mother’s womb. Every cell of your body is an expression and an echo of that great love. You were designed to experience love with every breath you take. You were engineered to never live separate from the love which created your biology.  You literally are the love you’ve sought your whole life.”

Sally sobbed.  She felt the power and truth of these spoken words to her very marrow.  She slowly turned toward the voice she’d heard next to her.  She gazed in wonder as her eyes encountered an unearthly, beautiful Light Being glowing in the dark.

The axis of Sally’s world shifted.  She felt the years of misperceptions fade away as Truth replaced every lie she had believed about herself.  Her body, once numb now vibrated with renewed life and the realization that nothing can separate her from her own inherent beauty.

The Being’s facial features were indiscernible through the brilliant light, but Sally could feel the gentle intensity of its attention towards her.  She felt seen in all the quadrants of her life and mothered in every orphaned aspect of herself.  The negative memories of her childhood, which had been an endless source of pain and anguish, receded like darkness captured by morning light.

With great economy of movement, the Light Being pointed toward the theater’s screen.  A picture of a marble staircase appeared.  An exquisite archway waited at the top of ascending steps; a threshold whispering an eternal invitation for all to enter.

Sally had a visceral response to the threshold and its welcome.  Her breath caught; somewhere deep within she recognized the symbol. The image pulled at her as though she had planted it herself.  A marker placed in time to remind her of something very important, because she had known, long ago, it was likely she would forget.

The beautiful Being seemed to read her thoughts.  “Yes, Sally, when a human being forgets or distorts the miracle of their own birth they begin to feel a separation from themselves and the source from which they were created. They begin to feel unsafe and unwanted in their own world because they have adopted a lie--a lie which poisons their minds into believing they are missing something valuable outside themselves. A missing piece, which they believe can only be found outward in the things of the world. The result is a depreciating value of themselves and all life. The longer a person looks elsewhere for their value, the greater the separation appears.  We call that ‘falling asleep.’

“‘Falling asleep’ is common to all people. This is why there is an alarm set in place for every human being so they have the opportunity to ‘wake up.’  Each person prepares a predetermined marker which has the potential to penetrate their matrix of beliefs and disturb their ‘sleep’ enough to start the waking process.  The desire to ‘wake-up’ is wired into every human being’s exquisitely-engineered DNA.

“However, the timing and the symbols or marker to awaken is unique to each individual.”

Every word the Being spoke resonated in Sally’s soul, but what was that incessant noise? “What is that awful ringing sound?” she wondered.  The ringing was dragging her away from the threshold steps. The screen was going black.  Everything was disappearing. She desperately reached out to grab the seat in front of her. She needed something, anything tangible to ground her and stop the sense of falling.

The abrupt movement caused her to awake up again in her own bedroom!  Sally looked over and noticed her hand was gripping the bedside table and her alarm clock was unceasingly blaring. ‘Time to wake up,’ it shouted.  She stared at the digital numbers and wondered if they meant anything. The clock read 5:55am.

Sally lay there for a few disappointing minutes and then asked out loud, “Seriously…. that was a dream!?”

In an audible whisper she heard the reply. “No. This is.”
