Interior Workplace Compliance Testing is a Cariboo company that provides drug and alcohol screening and testing services in places that include the Williams Lake area, thanks to collections by Kendra’s First Aid Services Ltd.

(Kendra’s First Aid Services provides Transport Canada-approved Mobile Treatment Centers)

Interior Workplace Compliance Testing (IWCT) has professional staff members who also offer point-of-care testing with instant results, as well as lab-based testing.

Department of Transportation testing is also available, and they offer competitive pricing and special employer rates. IWCT staff members are certified through the curriculum of the US Department of Transportation, Workplace Drug and Alcohol program.

“Our goal is to keep your workplace safe in the most convenient, affordable, professional way,” said Vanessa Visona from IWCT. “People are becoming more aware of the need to have a drug and alcohol-free workplace and what can happen if they don’t—they want to do their ‘due diligence.’”

They offer drug and alcohol testing using urine or hair follicles, as well as DNA testing, in their Prince George clinic. In Williams Lake the drug and alcohol collection is contracted to Kendra’s First Aid Services.

“When there is a workplace accident, companies that have drug and alcohol policies, pre-accident and post-accident access is critical. If something goes wrong, impairment at a workplace usually means fatigue,” Vanessa explained. “We run our operation 24/7 and are available anywhere.

“We provide employee record checks for reemployment and education references, and also do on-site respiratory fit testing.”

She said that they can go to a camp or logging block and do testing on site—much more convenient than pulling 40 guys off the job. “We can test a few of them at a time, right there, and get them back to work.”

In the office in Prince George IWCT also provides DNA testing. “The Ministry of Families may request DNA testing for parents--this is a convenient, professional way to get answers when uncertainty is not an option,” she said. “Our lab is one of the first in Canada to offer these services.

“The results are totally confidential, and are only given to the people involved.”

She noted that there are a lot of huge drug and alcohol testing companies in Canada, and that IWCT also contracts for driver checks for these large companies. “The benefit of dealing with us is that we don’t make people sign contracts. The large companies charge you a yearly administrative fee---we don’t,” she explained. “We offer competitive pricing and can set up with doctors to do occupational physicals.

“I love doing this, and I think we’re making a difference. Some of the results and answers we provide are life-changing. You meet some of these people and they’re so down and they look terrible. When they come back in 30 days and they look better, stronger and more confident—it’s changed everything. Sometimes this gives them a reason to quit,” she continued. “It’s a benefit to both employers and employees.”

Besides collecting samples for drug and alcohol testing for IWCT and Driver Check, Kendra’s First Aid Services also provides mobile treatment centers to worksites, and sells quality first aid supplies. Kendra First Aid Services Ltd. is a locally-owned and operated company dedicated to professional, quality patient care and compliance with all required government rules and regulations.

Kendra’s home-based business was opened in 2006, and includes reliable, professional and knowledgeable responders trained in one or more of the following: OFA advanced Level 3 First Aid, Emergency Medical Responder (EMR), Primary Care Paramedic (PCP) and Primary Care Paramedic with intravenous endorsement (PCP-IV).
