Gateway Video and Jolt of Java are presenting a fresh new face in the Williams Lake business community. Gateway Video has a new name, all new staff, an updated, renovated, family-friendly atmosphere, and customers can look forward to a new, on-site coffee shop opening in early December.

New owners Matt and Patti Bergson took over the old store on October 6 and have been hard at work upgrading and expanding the business. Families and children are welcome to come and browse the expanded line of DVDs, games and Blue Rays and take home some affordable, top-knotch entertainment.
A new demo game system is coming soon at Gateway Video for Wii and Xbox 360 and PS3, and they are bringing in newer video games, as well as opening the Jolt of Java coffee shop downstairs.
“We will have salads, coffee, soup, sandwiches,” said co-owner Matt Bergson. “While you’re doing your laundry next door you can come and have some lunch and see a movie. There will also be internet access and comfortable seating for our customers’ convenience.”
Gateway Video and Jolt of Java is truly Canadian and truly local. “We buy local, including Uncle Paul’s Coffee, and we’re locally owned,” he continued. “The money we make stays in the community.”
He added that Gateway Video supports teachers and youth groups by providing free movies.
Matt and Patti, and staff member Jan Moore, understand the challenges that families face with the downturn in the economy. “We want people to be able to come in here and find affordable, fun entertainment—we even sell fresh popcorn that is just like real theatre popcorn,” they said. “We have a great selection of movies and the most affordable prices in town and all our VHS tapes are on sale for $1.”
Besides enjoying the clean, bright, fresh look at Gateway Video, customers will experience friendly, helpful service that will make them feel at home.
“I want customers to think that they are welcome, are well-treated and that they want to come back,” Patti explained. “We keep a list at the till of games and movies that our customers would like to see in the store---we listen to what they want.”
Gateway Video and Jolt of Java is located at 974 McKinnon Street and is open from Monday through Wednesday from noon to 10pm daily, on Friday and Saturday from 10am to 10 pm, from 10am to 9pm on Sundays, and will be open on Christmas.
