A fresh face for small business in Williams Lake

A unique and flexible opportunity for small businesses is opening on Mackenzie Avenue in the next few weeks. The Mackenzie Business Centre will have a total of 10 office spaces available early in the new year, along with a convenient conference room, kitchen area, receptionist service and a kitchen area.
Owner Glen Ford said that inquiries are already coming in about the individual office spaces, adding that they hope to have the whole building open by the middle of January.
The building on North Mackenzie Avenue has distinctive round windows across the front, making it a very recognizable landmark in Williams Lake.
Another distinctive aspect of Mackenzie Business Centre will be the shared receptionist services. Each tenant can have a business line that will be answered by professional, friendly voice—a ‘real person’ who can forward calls and take messages and greet customers when they walk in the door.
“The phone system will be very flexible,” Glen explained. “All calls will go through the switchboard unless you don’t want them to---you can have the receptionist answer the phone when you’re on the other line. Your customers don’t have to leave a voicemail during business hours.”
Glen said that the receptionist will be available to hire for additional tasks, such as computer projects and filing. “We’re also looking into having a system where you can have a phone line though the Mackenzie Business Centre even if you don’t require an office space,” he added.
The office rental rate will include utilities, internet and security; the only thing the renter pays is for a phone line and insurance. The approximate rents range from $675 to $850, and the offices vary from 100 square to 137 square feet. “When you rent a space at the Cariboo Business Centre, there are no surprises with your fees,” he continued. “The price you pay on the first day is the price you pay on the last day.”
Offices in the Business Centre are each unique, with pine or cedar feature walls, beautiful tile flooring, glass brick lighting, large round windows on the front side or windows overlooking the wooded hills in the back. There is a waiting area for visitors, and generous parking along the front and sides of the building.
He also said that the conference room will be available for outside rentals, with the goal of installing convenient updated technology to use during meetings or workshops.
“This opportunity is great for small, start-up businesses that are ready to take it up a level---this lets your customers see you a professional office setting,” he said, adding that the internal networking potential is enormous with 10 small businesses under the same roof.
