Business

Williams Lake residents George and Bea Dodd were recently awarded an all-expenses-paid trip to Orlando, Florida and $15,000. They earned the trip through their home-based business where their hard work and commitment to helping people has led to success and a pure enjoyment of the work they do every day.

(The Dodds said that their week in Orlando was relaxing, exciting and inspirational.)

The Dodds have been part of the Amway ‘team’ for 15 years, and said that it’s always exciting to talk to people about the business opportunities available to them---young singles or young couples, young families, people looking to diversify their career and retired people looking for a great way to meet new people and make some extra income.

“The way we look at it, our job is helping people,” George explained. “Whether people are interested in the high-quality products or the business opportunities, it’s a pleasure to give them the chance to change their lives and the lives of their families.”

They said that interest in Amway opportunities is high. “We were invited to a trade/job fair here recently and had over 100 people at our booth, asking questions and collecting information,” George stated. “If nothing else, this changes the way you shop—helps you avoid retail mark-ups.”

Bea and George said that the trip to Florida was a delight. “It’s a positive atmosphere of achievement and inspiration and we get to hear about new products and statistics,” George explained. “Even with the bad economy right now, Amway still grew in double digits this year.”

They explained that Amway set the standard for ‘biodegradable’ before ‘green’ was invented, and that one of their products, the Nutrilite Vitamin, has been around for more that 75 years and was the first of its kind in the world.

Amway had its beginnings in 1959 when it launched ‘Liquid Organic Cleaner and a business model fuelled through relationships. Amway now sells vitamins and nutritional products, beauty, bath and body products, cleaning products and more.

George said that some of things they really enjoy about their business are getting to work for themselves, working on their own time and setting their own goals. “You have good-quality products, and when you see other people succeed, it’s even more rewarding than succeeding yourself.”

He explained that to succeed you need to be willing to learn and willing to teach what you learn. “If you like the product it’s easy to sell,” he said. “You don’t have to be pushy or aggressive—you just have to be willing to share and talk about why this works.”

You have very low overhead to get started, and you work from your own home with a computer and a telephone or SmartPhone, according to George. “When you start you have unlimited opportunity and a full 90-day guarantee,” he continued. “You need to be a good listener: listen to people about what they need in their life.”

They added that working with Amway doesn’t flood the local community—it’s global. “We’ve seen families take this opportunity and their kids grow up with it, get involved and pass it on,” Bea stated. “You are building a legacy—there are four generations and it’s still growing into residual income.”

George said that you can easily add $1,000 a month to your income without quitting your job. “You are given support and direction, help and information all along the way,” he noted. “You are part of a group and part of a team and you are not left adrift.

“The networking is huge and natural, and your success benefits the whole team: they’re behind you all the way. What’s unique about this is that the newest member of the team is the most important,” he continued. “Amway has a long, long tradition of success and teamwork and helping people and all training is done by successful business owners with hands-on experience.”

He added that it took them one year to achieve the goal that awarded them the trip to Florida this month. “Our goal is to help others get to that level and enjoy that success,” he said.
