New this year at Barking Spider is the BH line of road bikes—owner Scott Gordon is the first dealer in western Canada to carry them. “BH is a 100-year-old Spanish company that makes high-quality carbon fiber road bikes, very popular in Europe, that are super-light and efficient,” he said. “You want to go fast? Get on one of these.”

The main bike lines at Barking Spider are Scott, Giant and Jamis---bikes that can take you from the mountain to the road. The store carries new bikes, used bikes and bikes for all ages and sizes. They can also bring in Intense, Banshee, Turner and Pivot bikes.

The store carried full lines of gear, clothing and bike parts and does any repair on any kind of parts. “We brought in cross country ski gear last winter---Fischer, Atomic, Rossignol and Solomon,” Scott said. “I did quite a bit of skiing in December this season at Bull Mountain. They’re doing so much work up there: changing and improving some of the trails and adding lights.”

Customers can find recumbent bikes, kids’ bikes for all ages and little push bikes that let you skip the training wheels. There are pull-strollers, baby seats for bicycles and a full line of safety gear that includes the Leatt neck brace for the neck and collar bone. “It’s basically a helmet for your neck,” Scott explained, adding that all the safety gear at Barking Spider can cross over to other sports like motorcross, skiing and skateboarding.Whether you’re a basic biker or an extreme expert, Barking Spider can outfit you from bike to helmet and beyond, with expert advice and support based on personal experience and passion for the ride.
