Well, it’s another elimination night on American Idol with some surprises and high-caliber entertainment. My first surprise was they changed the 'loser stools' to 'winner stools' so when taking us down to the bottom three, there seemed to be some confusion on the contestants’ faces when Ryan escorted them over to the other side of the stage.
Maybe the writers and producers of the show are having a hard time finding new ideas to keep things interesting.
The second surprise was Lady Gaga, she really is an outstanding entertainer. She performed her new hit single 'Alejandro' in a very dramatic and creative stage show. It was, quite possibly, the best part of the whole show.
We were then treated to a swarthy performance by Harry Connick Jr. While he is an incredibly talented musician, I would rather see him in movies or on reruns of 'Friends'.
Eventually we found out that Michael Lynch, Casey James and Aaron Kelly are in the bottom three. Which, considering the other performances, wasn't a huge surprise. After a second five-part harmony piece from our Idols and a cute video montage of Harry Connick Jr. and the contestants, we know that Aaron Kelly is going home.
Sweet, unassuming and talented Aaron handled this news with the aplomb befitting a gentleman. It was sad to see him go, but I'm sure he'll be hitting the airwaves with a hit single very soon.
