At the beginning of the top 24, Simon declared that the girls had the 'edge' on the boys. I'm not so convinced of that after tonight's show.

The boys were so strong that I'm having a hard time predicting who is going to be eliminated.

Lee Dewyze started us off with 'Fireflies' by Owl City. I've never heard of this song or listened to the original, so I have no idea how to compare it to Lee's version. All I know is that I liked it.

Alex Lambert did 'Trouble' by Coldplay. Not a bad performance, but a bit predictable. I like his unique sound but the 'star quality' just isn't there. A possible elimination, I think.

Next up was Tim Urban, singing 'Hallelujah' by Jeff Buckley. Ellen has been a bit hard on him in the past weeks, but after this performance she ran on stage and gave him a hug. I guess he redeemed himself but for me it was only OK. A second chopping block victim, is my tentative guess.

Hanging on by a thread of popularity was Andrew Garcia, singing Christina Aguilera's, 'Genie In A Bottle'. Personally, I liked his version better than the original. The judges think that the people will like it, but that he may have peaked too soon with his 'Straight Up' performance. I think this one could go either way.

I really enjoyed Casey James doing 'You'll Think of Me' by Keith Urban. He seemed far more comfortable and sincere tonight and his vocals were bang on! Kara is back on the 'Casey train' or is it really the 'Simon train'?

Aaron Kelly did 'I'm Already There' by Lonestar. Kind of a shaky start but he found his way quickly. He definitely has a lot of confidence for someone so young but I just can't see him as the next American Idol. He could be another possible elimination tomorrow.

'Somebody to Love' by Queen was the next song choice performed by Toderick Hall. Queen is another favorite of mine, so I'm a bit picky when it comes to this song. I didn't like it, but most of the judges and the audience did, so I think he'll make it through.

Micheal Lynche rounded out the night with 'This Woman's Work' by The Maxwells. I think he looked really nice in his suit and he really did rock that song, but I didn't get it. Kara was emotional and in tears, Simon said it was the best of the season so far and Randy almost couldn't believe that it had actually happened. What am I missing? Oh well: at least it didn't suck.

Tomorrow night is the elimination round and then we are finally in the Top 12 episodes! Thank goodness for small favors.
