150 Mile House resident, Jeanie Vant has written poetry since she was a young girl and previously published a children’s book in 2006, entitled 'The Squirrel Family'. Her most recent book, 'The Witch’s Cat' is a heart-warming story that teaches children that some witches are good; the unlikeliest of creatures can become a best friend; and that at the end of the day, we all must be selfless enough to let go of those we love.

In Jeanie Vant’s charming tale, a woman discovers a little black cat in the basement of a church on the morning after Halloween. Taking the kitten home to her nephew, Alex, the boy names the cat Tom Kitty and the two grow to become close friends. But, when it is revealed that Tom Kitty belongs to a kindly old witch who has grown ill, Alex must come to accept that Tom Kitty has a commitment beyond being with him, and has to learn to let his best friend go.
