For the past 29 years ARS (Automotive Repair Service) has gone above and beyond to provide flexible, reliable customer service. From the family sedan to logging trucks, boats, trailers and even aircraft parts, the expertise at ARS will get you on the move and back on track.

“If it rolls or moves in any description, we will take it,” said owner Stan Pogue. “Our basic repairs cover everything from replacing a wiper blade to engine repairs. From bumper to bumper, we’ll get it fixed for you,” he continued. “We do everything from light to heavy duty---from logging trucks and mining or forestry equipment, to the family sedan.”

Located at 1075 N Mackenzie Avenue, ARS does basic automotive repair and is also a government inspection facility. “Any vehicle coming from out of the province needs a provincial inspection to register in BC,” Stan explained, and added that another reason you might need an inspection is if you get stopped by the RCMP or Department of Transport and they find fault with your vehicle.

He said that there are certainly challenges and difficulties for local businesses because of changes in the economy and in the logging industry. “The automotive repair industry is becoming increasingly cutthroat, with suppliers caught in the middle,” he said.

“I think we need to diversify a bit to survive. We’ve depended so long on the logging industry, and the silver platter is getting really tarnished. Tourism has to be at the top of the list,” he continued. “I wonder why the government hasn’t built a railroad to Bella Coola, with its deep sea port like Prince Rupert? It would open up the west for logging and ranching, as well as daily passenger and tourist service.”

There are many long-time customers at ARS, both businesses and individuals, thanks to the professional, individualized service at ARS. “We make sure that our schedule meets our customers’ needs, and what keeps them coming back is service first and reliability second,” Stan stated. “Everybody is treated the same: all our customers are important.”
