A Cariboo Regional District Board of Directors destroys Canadian dream
| Letters |
Dear Editor;
After working, saving and planning for 30 years, our dream of retiring in Canada finally materialized. We chose to live in Flett Subdivision in Williams Lake. We enjoy our acreage, horses and recreation on our own 6 acres, and also have access to Crown land.
Part of our dream was to have a peaceful, quiet neighborhood, enjoying space---which Canada affords.
We thought we were living in an area with controlled, residential development.
Recently, a variance was passed by the CRD Board of Directors for a building in Flett Subdivision, which was illegal, with no permits, not built to code, no compliance with a stop order and built for commercial intent.
The CRD Area E Director, after two neighborhood meetings and 60 signatures against the variance, has stated in a letter that the building will not be removed.
The neighborhood was not consulted and as a result, we are devastated and our life’s dream destroyed due to this decision.
Thank you, CRD Board of Directors and Area E Director.
