Moonshadows, by Jenny Noble.

moonshadows_sm“The undertaking of a new action brings new strength." Evenus on Action

Each month, the Sun and Moon meet in the sky to seed a new cycle of possibility. Overwhelmed by the rays of the Sun, Moon’s light disappears from our view. During those dark nights, a new tone is set which will develop as the Moon grows in size and light (waxes) and culminates at the Full Moon (December 1 in Gemini this month). As the Moon wanes, the consequences of that development become known, and we revise, adapt and prepare for the next cycle.

The New Moon, then, is a moment of intention, an opportunity to re-align our daily patterns (Moon) with our larger purpose (Sun). It’s a time to look inward and explore the fertile shadows beyond the conscious mind, where new ideas arise and new understandings are born.

To help you focus those New Moon seedings and nurture their growth through the monthly cycle, I’ll be writing about the Astrological significance of each New Moon and its unfolding through the following 28 days. The column will appear on the “Welcome to Williams Lake” website on (or near) the day of each New Moon, and will include my comments for each sign. I hope you’ll find these readings helpful!

This month’s New Moon occured on November 16 in Scorpio. Powerful forces of transformation are at work now, and will call up all our reserves of courage and resourcefulness. Responding positively to inevitable realities is key. By looking beneath the surface, Scorpio is able to see the essence of the situation and purge non-essentials. Some of our most treasured ideals might need to go into the recycling bin. This New Moon is supported by the planet Uranus, which suggests that the most radical ideas are probably the most workable.

The current major alignment between Saturn and Pluto echoes periods of profound societal changes throughout history. Our intentions for the coming month must recognize the profound challenges of this moment. Fortunately Scorpio gives us the guts to face truth realistically and honestly. The alternative – trying to resist or ignore what needs to change – is a dead end road. Whatever we aren’t dealing with is sure to bite our butts, so in the long run it’s probably less painful to get it out in the open now.

Aries, Moonshadows by Jenny NobleFor Aries an issue about shared resources may need to be confronted, shared responsibilities clarified or power imbalance re-aligned. Asserting or defending your dignity can get in the way of solutions that work for everyone, not to mention arousing jealousy from those whose cooperation you need. You’re capable of meaningful leadership now, as you learn your lessons quickly. They call it “instant karma”.

Taurus, Moonshadows by Jenny NobleFor Taurus the emphasis lies squarely in the field of relationships. If those around you are feeling blocked or insecure, your support will mean a lot. The trick is to remain objective, even as you offer sympathy. Sometimes it’s more constructive to find a way to live with a problem than to push for a solution that’s beyond anyone’s ability to implement.

Gemini, Moonshadows by Jenny NobleInnovations in Gemini’s working life could go a long way toward improving a testy situation. Your natural adaptability could be key to resolving seemingly trivial conflicts; get on that now rather than letting them escalate. There’s a lot more going on under the surface. Same goes for your health.

Cancer, Moonshadows by Jenny NobleCancer what do you do for the sheer love of it? Aside from the renewal we get from recreation (re-creation), play can lead us to surprising realizations. Try something you haven’t already mastered, or try a novel approach to your usual mode. It could shake loose some stuck places in your closest relationships. Just remember, things are not what they seem.

Leo, Moonshadows by Jenny NobleLucky you, Leo. This Fall (in fact right up till next June) you’re energized by assertive Mars. It’s your time to go after what you really want. (Now to figure out just what that is!) During the coming month, you can expect some keen feedback about how your pursuit is affecting others. If your “assertive” crosses the line to “aggressive”, you could feel the Scorpion’s sting.

Virgo, Moonshadows by Jenny NobleAh Virgo, you have much to teach and to learn this month. Your brain is unusually receptive and retentive now, so consider either formal or informal study. It could connect you with some unusual new friends. The heaviness of the past couple of years is lifting; you’ve matured in the process, giving you an aura of wisdom.

Libra, Moonshadows by Jenny NobleEverybody’s thinking about resources these days,Libra, and you’ve got a great opportunity to develop some new ones. In fact, you’ll be really glad you did, as the next 2 years will limit your ability to rely on the old solutions. Thing is, what gives you the most pleasure might not be what gets the best results, now that Saturn’s moved in to de-clutter your personality.

Scorpio, Moonshadows by Jenny NobleSpeaking of personality,Scorpio’s is under the microscope right now. People’s response to you has more to do with the surface you present than how you feel inside. Do your appearance, mannerisms and clothing still convey who you are? This month is a good time to let go of any behaviours that have become more habitual than meaningful.

Sagittarius, Moonshadows by Jenny NobleMany Sagittarians have experienced profound transformations in their belief systems during the past 14 years. Some cherished assumptions were examined and rejected; others validated. The cycle beginning at this New Moon may cause you to again question what you now take for granted. Communicate during this cycle; a mature friend – or perhaps aspect of yourself – can provide a wise perspective. (Hint: ask.)

Capricorn, Moonshadows by Jenny NobleResponsible Capricorn, who do you turn to in periods of unrest? Big transitions coming in the next few years, and you’re going to need your team. This is a great time to ally with innovators who think outside the box, and feel deeply. Not so great for solo heroics or acting like the boss. Your authority comes from seeing clearly and speaking honestly.

Aquarius, Moonshadows by Jenny NobleAquarius, your place in the social order gives you much to ponder in the next 4 weeks. A nice boost to your self-esteem, perhaps? Some recognition for your originality? Better yet, your ideas may be taken seriously by someone with the influence to help them manifest. Your instincts could be a bit distorted though; partner intuition with logic. It’s like having two eyes.

Pisces, Moonshadows by Jenny NobleSwimming in a sea of contradictions, Pisces? You’re getting a glimmer of how it all fits together, and that’s enough to go on for now. Understanding will unfold. The unconscious mind is an especially rich resource for guidance now. Keep travel plans fluid this month; the unexpected alternative could turn out way better than the planned program!
