Long-time local resident Dorothy Lindsay had a special treat for her 80th birthday—a surprise planned by her daughter, Sherry Exshaw. A resident of the Williams Lake Seniors Village, Mrs. Lindsay was serenaded on the bagpipes by Williams Lake Pipe Band member John Visentin.
Both of Mrs. Lindsay’s parents were from Scotland and four generations of her family were raised with respect and love for the pipes.

Other residents, staff and family members listened to John play ‘Morag Dunvagen’, ‘Cockney Jocks’, ‘Bluebells of Scotland’ and ‘Happy Birthday.’
“It meant so much to her---she was so surprised, and she smiled ear to ear the whole time he played,” said Senior’s Village Activity Director Janet Catalano. “Her daughter said, ‘I’ll never forget that this happened for my mother.’”
Senior’s Village residents are enjoying a full season of activities and music, from the ‘Tribute to the 1940’s’ concert this past week, to the upcoming Christmas Lights Tour, a visit from Santa, a craft fair this Sunday from 2-4pm and music by Cariboo Gold and the Glendale School and the 150 Mile School choirs.
