Rolling out the carpet for Santa

Santa Claus will be taking Christmas requests and Christmas photos at Consumer’s Carpet this season, helping to make Christmas fun and festive for kids and their parents, while raising money for the 139 Children’s Fundraising Association. This is the jolly big guy’s first time at this new location, and Greg Ashley said that the staff is looking forward to the fun of having Santa on site.
“We were at the mall for six years, and when 139 Children’s moved to Consumer’s Carpet, Santa came with us,” Greg said. “Katimavik kids are here taking the photos of kids with Santa, and all proceeds go to 139 Children’s.”

He said that other exciting news for 139 Children’s is the generous donation from Walmart yesterday, celebrating the store’s opening in Williams Lake.
“They did a bake sale and haircuts for us—and the new Assistant Manager issued a challenge,” Greg said. “He said that if they raised $1,000 he would have his hair dyed bright blue. They ended up donating a total of $4,000 to the 139 Children’s.”

He explained that Walmart donated a total of $27,000 to local non-profit organizations, including $5,000 to the Salvation Army Food Bank, $4,000 to Red Cross, $1,500 to both Marie Sharpe Elementary School and Hough Memorial and $1,000 each to High School Rodeo, the SPCA and the Boys and Girls Club.
“This couldn’t have come at a more perfect time for the 139 Children’s,” he continued. “I think this was a very cool thing that Walmart did for our community.”
Santa will be at Consumer’s Carpet from 2-5pm on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays and from 12-3pm on Saturdays until December 19.
