Collision with vehicle sends 10-year old cyclist to hospital
| News |
On Sunday afternoon, RCMP attended a collision between a motor vehicle and a cyclist in Wildwood. A 10-year old girl was struck while riding her bike.
“The young girl was wearing a helmet, which no doubt prevented more serious injury,” explained Constable Champagne of the Williams Lake RCMP. She did suffer a concussion along with numerous bruises and scrapes and was taken to hospital by ambulance.
The girl’s bicycle was demolished in the collision.
The driver of the vehicle immediately offered assistance to the girl. “Collisions such as these, where young people are involved, can be equally traumatizing for both the driver of the vehicle and the cyclist,” noted Constable Champagne. “These are also dreaded calls for rescue personnel to attend."
"The Williams Lake RCMP would like to remind drivers to be watchful for all cyclists on the road this summer.”
