On August 27th, Williams Lake A&W Restaurant hosted an event to support The Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada. $1.00 from each Teen Burger was donated to help find a cure for MS. As well, cut outs were signed and placed on the wall to raise money.

The event included draws, a root beer chugging contest and an evening car show. The Lakers Car Club participated by arranging more than 50 cars, motorcycles and even a tractor for the evening car show.

Fred and Rachel Berry, owners of the Williams Lake A&W, say they were very impressed that people made such a conscious effort to support the cause. Their restaurants raised a total of $1,070 to be donated to the MS Society.

MS is the most common neurological disease affecting young adults in Canada, mainly between the ages of 15 and 40-critical ages when they dream of starting families and careers. Extreme fatigue, coordination and vision problems, loss of balance and partial-sometimes total-paralysis are some of the symptoms associated with MS.

Every A&W Restaurant across Canada participated in the Cruisin’ for a Cause Day with a goal of $500,000 to raised for the MS society of Canada. The money will be used to support critical research and develop vital services for Canadians living with MS.
