100 Mile House RCMP highlights to May 31, 2010

100 Mile House RCMP responded to 82 complaints and calls for service over the last week. Some highlights are below.
On May 25, 100 Mile House Traffic Services were conducting seatbelt compliance on Horse Lake cut-off Road. A driver was checked for not wearing his seatbelt. Subsequent queries confirmed that the driver did not have a valid drivers license, there was no insurance on the vehicle and the driver was a vehicle impound candidate. The vehicle was towed and impounded. The driver was issued tickets for not having a drivers license, not having insurance and not wearing a seatbelt.
On May 27, 100 Mile House RCMP responded to a single vehicle collision on Horse Lake road at Sven Road. The driver of a pickup truck had fallen asleep at the wheel and left the roadway. The vehicle impacted with the approach to Sven Road and then rolled. The driver suffered lacerations to the face and head. The driver was transported to 100 Mile Hospital by ambulance with non life-threatening injuries. Both the truck and utility trailer were severely damaged. The investigation into this incident is continuing.
On May 28, 100 Mile House RCMP received a complaint that a person had responded to an internet email indicating they had won money. The victim was asked to forward money to facilitate the delivery of their winnings. This person had forwarded money and was now the victim of internet fraud. Police are reminding the public to be careful in responding to emails and letters asking for money to be forwarded in order to claim prizes.
100 Mile House RCMP responded to 17 traffic and driving complaints over the past week.
On May 30, 100 Mile House RCMP responded to an alarm call at Horse Lake Elementary School. Upon attendance with the property representative, there were two windows broken and entry had been gained into a classroom. The damage to property is estimated at $500.00. It is not known if anything was stolen.
