Country, Rock and Pop-Shania Twain is the biggest 'crossover' artist in our generation and this week's mentor for the 'Top 6'. After tonight's show I also think she was one of the best mentors as she seemed to bring out the best in all of the contestants. So much so that the judges and the critics on the internet think its going to be a very difficult elimination round tomorrow.

One of my favorites, Lee Dewyze, started us off with his version of 'You’re still the One'. As usual, he received rave reviews from the judges and his fans in the audience. His gravelly voice and humble demeanor has me thinking that when this month is over and they 'crown' our next Idol he'll be the one left on stage.

Micheal Lynch or a.k.a Luther Vandross, as he was dubbed tonight, served up yet another ballad; 'It Only Hurts When I'm Breathing'. It sounded good and was mostly believable but I surely didn't get why Shania herself got teary-eyed over his performance. Maybe it sounds different in the studio then it does coming out of my TV.

Casey James showed his vulnerable side with his song choice of 'Don't'. This was another of my favourites tonight. He even got a hug from Shania as a result.

One of the only full-country performances was delivered by Crystal Bowersox singing 'No One Needs to know Right Now'. I thought it was sweet that she dedicated the song to her boyfriend in the audience and said that he would 'man up' one of these days.

Now the poor guy will be under intense pressure to propose to her in front of America. Something tells me they'll both handle it, and the media, just fine.

Aaron Kelly was next with 'You've Got a Way'. He also made a dedication to his mom and had everyone mopping at the tears in their eyes. He'll stay around for another week, for sure.

Siobhan Magnus closed out the show with an upbeat rendition of 'Any Man of Mine'. It was allright, but I think she's overstayed her welcome by about four months. Simon compared her 'big notes' to sounding like she was giving birth. All of the Idols tonight showed what kind of artist they wanted to be and have mostly been consistent with that decision week after week. Siobhan is the only one that doesn't seem to have a niche she fits into.

One thing that really stuck with me tonight was when Shania was talking to Aaron. She said to him, “You are already here, you've proven yourself and they already love you. All you need to do is love what you're doing and show it to them.”

I think that’s a great statement to apply to love, life and self-worth.
