Near miss on Highway 97 near Williams Lake Airport

On February 25, 2010 at 12:15pm, the Williams Lake RCMP was informed of a traffic incident along highway 97 north, just north of the Williams Lake Airport turnoff. The complainant advised that he was using the fast lane and passing a dark brown Windstar pulling a flat deck trailer, when he encountered a pickup truck approaching southbound in his lane. The complainant added that he swerved back into the slow lane, narrowly missing the van and avoiding a collision with the truck.
The complainant added that the black Ford F350 pickup truck was passing a blue/grey Chevrolet Cobalt and had crossed a double solid yellow line to manoeuvre around the car.
The truck is described as a slightly lifted black Ford F350 with an aluminium tool box and possibly a welder in the box.
